French: Elementary 1 (Online)

Course Summary

French Elementary 1 is ideal for absolute beginners. If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about the French language and the French-speaking world, or if you want to communicate with friends, family, colleagues, people in the local community, or people from other countries where French is spoken, this course is for you.

You will learn how to:

• use basic expressions to introduce yourself and others
• engage in simple conversations to exchange information about nationalities and professions
• ask and give personal information
• use basic expressions to communicate in class
• demonstrate basic knowledge of some cultural and social customs
• know and use the French alphabet, count numbers up to 100
• understand how to identify feminine and masculine nouns
• use present tense of regular verbs in simple sentences
• use of the formal and the informal you – Tu / Vous
• conjugate verbs such as avoir, être and verbs from the first group -er
• use of definite and indefinite articles for feminine and masculine noun

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

• use basic expressions for meeting, greeting and saying farewell
• engage in simple conversations to exchange information
• use basic expressions to communicate in class
• demonstrate basic knowledge of some French cultural and social custom
